The Plugable USBC-VAMETER is a pocket-sized USB-C power meter that lets you see exactly what's happening with your charging and data connections. About the size of a USB flash drive, this inline tester measures voltage and amperage, displays power direction, and passes through data—all in real time. It's an essential tool for diagnosing charging issues, testing cables, and understanding your device's power consumption.
Connect the USBC-VAMETER between a USB-C charger and a laptop, tablet, or phone, and you'll get a live readout of voltage, current, and calculated wattage. The built-in display is easy to read, and the bidirectional capability means you can test on either side of a cable.
Unlike some meters that block data, the USBC-VAMETER passes USB 2.0 data signals through, so you can monitor power while transferring files or using a wired connection. This makes it perfect for troubleshooting a hub or dock that seems to deliver power but not data.
The meter visually indicates the direction of current flow, so you can quickly see if your charger is actually supplying power or if your device is back-feeding. This is invaluable when checking USB-C cables that may be faulty or non-compliant.
The meter's sturdy construction can handle the wear and tear of daily use. Its tiny footprint means you can leave it plugged into a power bank or permanently in your tech kit without adding bulk.
The USBC-VAMETER works with any USB-C device or charger, including laptops, phones, tablets, and power banks. It supports USB Power Delivery up to 20V, though it does not measure EPR (Extended Power Range) beyond 20V.
Get the data you need to keep your gear running at its best with the Plugable USBC-VAMETER.
Real-time voltage and amperage readout – See exactly how much power is flowing to your devices, helping you diagnose charging issues and verify charger performance.
Full data passthrough – Monitor power while transferring data, making it ideal for troubleshooting hubs, docks, and cables without losing connectivity.
Compact, rugged design – Built like a USB drive, it fits easily on a keychain or in a laptop bag, ready for on-the-go power diagnostics.

The USBC-VAMETER is the ultimate tool for anyone who wants to take control of their USB-C charging. It can reveal whether a cheap cable is limiting your fast charging, or if your new adapter is delivering the wattage it claims. For IT professionals, it's a quick way to verify that docking stations are providing adequate power to laptops, preventing unexpected shutdowns. The meter's compact size means you can keep it in your toolkit without adding bulk, and its durable design ensures it survives trips in a drawer or pouch. With its bidirectional measurement capability, you can even test cables in both orientations, making it an invaluable asset for cable certification.
The USBC-VAMETER is designed for voltages up to 20V, which covers standard USB PD up to 100W. Chargers delivering 140W typically use USB PD 3.1 with Extended Power Range (EPR) up to 28V or 48V. This meter does not support EPR, so it won't measure those voltages correctly.
The USBC-VAMETER supports voltages from 0-20V DC, which corresponds to standard USB Power Delivery profiles (5V, 9V, 15V, 20V). It does not measure higher EPR voltages from 28V or 48V chargers.
This meter is not compatible with USB PD 3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR). It only supports standard USB PD up to 20V. For EPR measurement, you would need a specialized meter that supports up to 48V.
Simply plug the meter in line between a USB-C charger and the device you want to monitor. The display will show voltage, current, and power. The meter also indicates the direction of power flow with an arrow.
I wanted to know how much power my phone was drawing. Plugged it in between charger and phone, and it reads voltage and current accurately. The screen is bright and clear.
It works well for USB-C devices. I can see power direction, so it's useful for checking if a USB-C device is charging a laptop or being charged. The display could be bigger, but it's fine.
Compared to my multimeter, the readings are about 0.2V higher and 50mA off. Not critical for basic monitoring. The included cable is a bit short. Still useful.
I use this to test various USB-C cables and chargers. It shows me which ones can deliver the rated current. The power pass-through is nice – you can still use the device while measuring.
It's a nice little tool. The screen rotates automatically, which is a nice touch. It's a bit pricey, but it's well-built and does exactly what it should. Would buy again.
